Cashback reward sites

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cashback reward site?

A cashback reward site is similar to your Tesco Clubcard, Boots Advantage Card or Nectar card except that rather than handing your reward card to the cashier online you simply buy your items through a Cashback site.

How much of a reward is offered?

The amount of reward varies depending on the retailer and on which Cashback Reward site you are using. In general you should be able to save up to 30% of the price of the product or for some products such as insurance and gaming sites the rewards can be extremely generous with  rewards sometimes being worth more than £100 for taking up one offer. For more details see our cashback rewards sites comparison.

Do I have to pay to join a cashback site?

No, there are a large number of free to join cahback sites such as Rpoints, Greasypalm and Cashbag who are free to join and will reward you for shopping through them. There are also a few cashback reward sites such as Topcashback, Quido and Mrs Cashback that do require you to pay a joining fee and in return for paying this they offer to pass on a larger share of the commission rebates that the receive. For more details see our cashback reward sites comparison

Why are cashback sites willing to reward me?

Each time you buy a product through a link on a cashback site the cashback site earns a commission from the retailer and basically to encourage you to use their links the cashback sites are willing to share this commission with you so that you continue to shop through them and they continue to earn commission. It is basically a Win Win Win situation as the retailer makes a sale and generates a profit, the cashback site earns a commission and make a profit and you get the product you want and earn a reward for buying something you were going to buy anyway.

Is my choice of shops limited to only a few retailers?

No some cashback sites such as Rpoints and Topcashback have over a thousand shops from which you can shop online and receive cashback rewards.

Is it safe?

You do not give your credit card details to the cashback reward site instead you only give these to the relevant retailer (Tesco, Dell, HMV etc) on their site so you do not need to worry about the Cashback Reward site accessing your credit card details. Whilst some cashback reward sites offer the option of paying your reward direct into your bank account most also offer alternatives such as being paid by cheque, or to your Paypal account or being paid in vouchers so again you do not need to worry about handing over sensitive information to the Cashback reward sites.

Can I join more than one Cashback Reward site?

Yes, you can join as many of these cashback reward sites as you wish. As the rewards offered vary from one cashback site to another it is worth joining a few of them so that you can compare the rewards on offer to make sure you get the best reward on offer.
